What an algo does

An algo watches the market conditions you configured and, when they match, places the configured order through your broker, then manages the position with the configured stop-loss, target, time exit and square-off. It runs without asking you for approval of each trade.

Ways it can go wrong

  • Misinterpretation: the AI may turn your words into a rule that is not what you meant. Read the generated rules; the review card exists for this.
  • Data: late, missing or wrong candles can produce a signal, or suppress one. CandleAlgo blocks entries on stale data where it can detect it, but detection is not perfect.
  • Connectivity and APIs: broker outages, token expiry, rate limits, IP restrictions or API changes can delay or drop orders, including exits.
  • Execution: slippage, partial fills, rejections (margin, segment not enabled, banned scrip) and fast markets.
  • Software errors: CandleAlgo is software and can have bugs. Engine or server downtime stops new entries; open positions may then depend on the broker-side exits you have set.
  • Configuration: money per trade, leverage, concurrent positions and daily limits are yours to set. Wrong values can size trades far larger than intended.

What CandleAlgo does

  • Every algo starts in paper mode unless you explicitly choose Live and tick the live-trading agreement.
  • Live readiness checks (broker login, permissions, trading IP, market status) run before an algo goes live and are re-checked while it runs. A failed check blocks new entries and is shown on the algo card.
  • Status, errors and the reason for every blocked state are shown in plain English on My Algos and in the notification centre.

What it does not do

  • It does not guarantee that an order is placed, modified, filled or exited.
  • It does not monitor your broker account for changes you make outside CandleAlgo; positions closed manually are reconciled on a best-effort basis.
  • It does not replace your own monitoring. Check your broker platform - it is the final record of orders and positions.
